Reeves County Commissioners postponed a 150 631 dollar plan to buy X ray gear beds laundry machines and related items for the new 60 bed hospital until a meeting with architects and planners. The county seeks clarity on total costs and what exactly is included before authorizing purchases.
In April the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission let a contract for SH 20 surfacing in Reeves County. Paul H. Coleman oversees as District Engineer. Strain Brothers, Inc. of San Angelo won the low bid of 1,194,983.28 for 17.9 miles of surface work from 8.9 miles east of IH 20 IH 10 junction to Salt Draw, with about 80 working days.
The first independent publication by Pecos High School students is now on sale in Pecos stores Gibson's Anthony's Sprouse Reitz and Ben's Spanish Inn. Editor Stephen Bates led a staff including Janey Esquivel Thomas Hurley Victor Moran Tom Bolling Diana Gonzales Lucy Gallardo and Roger Medanich, with literary works by PHS students.
In Pecos a shooting Sunday left Regino Bustamante with a gunshot wound to the face. The incident occurred at 101 S Locust St after 8 30 p m during an exchange of a pistol with Frank Sanchez Rodriguez 115 S Pecan St Rodriguez said the pistol dropped and discharged. Bustamante was taken to an Odessa hospital in good condition. investigators found a spent cartridge but no pistol. Rodriguez faces charges of drunk and discharging a firearm within city limits.
