A Calley trial juror, Maj. Harvey G. Brown, 33, suffered stomach pains and was taken to Martin Army Hospital for examination before being released to join the six man panel for continued deliberations on charges of murder in the My Lai killings.
Angela Davis and her co defendant Rachell Magee trigger a bail bid as their murder case moves toward appellate review after Judge John P McMurray disqualified himself following Magee affidavit for cause. Magee sought removal at a pre trial hearing prompting lengthy discussions in chambers. The judge ruled he could not proceed in the case.
A powerful late winter storm swept the central Plains with heavy drifting snow and dust from New Mexico to Kansas. Stockmen and travelers faced hazardous conditions as drifting snow closed roads and trudged through Wyoming Colorado Nebraska Kansas South Dakota Minnesota and Iowa.
The National Federation of Priests Councils House of Delegates approved a resolution urging priests be allowed to choose between celibacy and marriage. The measure won 193 to 18 after five hours of debate that stretched into the early morning.

Seattle Transit Commission may join three other cities in a $1.3 million test of 24 liquified natural gas powered buses in Pittsburgh Seattle San Antonio and Atlanta. The plan requires federal funding and would run alongside continued trolley and motor bus service with possible expansion of the trolley fleet.
Dr. R. Lee Clark, head of the M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, called for a unified national program directed by a separate federal agency. He told Texas Medical Center staff that central coordination is essential to control cancer in the next decade.
The Senate Labor Committee approved a $1.75 billion service jobs bill despite Nixon administration opposition. It would create about 150,000 immediate jobs for state city and local government units as all Democrats and most Republicans supported sending the bill to the Senate.
A Lenoir North Carolina family lost all in a fire on IH 20 near Pecos while traveling to Arizona for their asthmatic child. The Pecos community provided clothing bedding and cash donations totaling 270 dollars. The Holdaway family moved into Airbase 37-D apartment and expressed gratitude to residents the Brandon Hotel and the Pecos Police Department for housing funding and assistance.
The Pecos High School Science Association led by Mrs. Carolyn McNeil and Mrs. Julie Ross hosts the third annual Science Fair for Pecos-Barstow CISD on Saturday March 20 from 1 30 to 5 p.m. Projects set up March 19 3 30 to 4 30 p.m. and must be ready by 6 to 8 p.m. for judging. Awards ceremony at 1 p.m. in the auditorium. Local winners advance to the Regional Fair April 23 at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa.
Baylor University announced fall semester honors with James Turner Strother making the Dean's Honor List for 3.60 to 3.79 averages and 15 plus hours. Kathy Walker earned Dean's Distinguished Honor List with averages above 3.80 and at least 15 hours.
West of the Pecos region issues a high wind warning this afternoon with gusty winds shifting to the north at 30 to 45 mph. Winds gradually diminish tonight and Friday. Fair and cold tonight and Friday with low temperatures from 28 to 45 and Friday highs 42 to 58.
The Pecos school children’s art will be shown at Pecos Junior High School on Missouri Street this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Pecos Barstow Project.

Gov. Pres ton Smith will sign a bill in Lubbock at 5:30 p.m. on the Texas Tech campus authorizing bonds backed by state college tuition to fund new campuses. UT and TTU regents will attend, with House members led by Speaker Gus Mutscher traveling to witness the signing. The measure allows UT system to issue up to 150 million dollars and TTU 35 million with about 110 million planned over two years for new campuses and related medical, dental, nursing, and teaching facilities across Texas.
Mary Branham 76 died Wednesday in Hobbs New Mexico. She died on arrival at Lea County Hospital after moving from Denton Texas six years ago. She leaves one son W H Branham Pecos two daughters Mrs H M Selby Midland and Mrs B C Sutton Hobbs one sister Mrs Dora Ford Hobbs seven grandchildren two great grandchildren. Services Friday 10 a.m. First United Methodist Church Hobbs with Rev James Miller. burial Saturday 10 a.m. Restlawn Memorial Park Denton.

Reeves County Tax Assessor-Collector Pearl Barker announces the tax office will open during the noon hour from March 22 to April 1 to enable motor vehicle owners to purchase new tags for 1971. April 1 is the deadline. The office will also be open Saturday morning March 27 until noon for license plate purchases.
Austin reports Gov. Pres ton Smith and state and federal officials will tour drought conditions in South Texas on Friday. Smith is considering asking President Nixon to designate the area a disaster area eligible for federal aid.
