Warrant Officer Johnny Hummel, son of Mr and Mrs Floyd Hummel, is reported missing in action in the Far East while on his second tour. While on air support duty for South Vietnamese forces the Cobra gun ship he was aboard lost radio contact at 7 30 p m March 6. His unit is stationed at Quang Tri near the Laotian border. He left February 13 to begin another overseas tour after a 10 day leave. Parents were notified by an Army representative this morning.

Funeral services for L. G. Shorty Shepherd
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church for L. G. Shorty Shepherd. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Milton Propp will officiate. He died after a heart attack at Memorial Hospital yesterday morning. Born in Litchfield Kentucky on April 6 1905 he was a farmer who had lived in Barstow since 1943. His widow Emma Shepherd teaches at Pecos High School. Survivors include two brothers John and Ernest Shepherd of Receda California.
