No. 2 Crockett Sun Oil Co well tests in Pecos County
The No. 2 Crockett State prospect in Pecos County shows production testing at 3,938 to 4,029 feet in the Ellenburger field with 28 barrels of oil and 25 barrels of lead water in 10 hours. The site, staked by Pink Phelps survey for Occidental from Lafayette, La, lies near Jeff Davis County and Fort Davis, about eight miles from the Perry Bass gas field. A Mobil Oil dry hole No. 1 State Lea near the same area was abandoned in March 1970 after no production in Devonian and Fusselman tests. A straddle-packer test in the Atoka depth 9,700-9,800 feet yielded 650 feet of gas-cut drilling fluid.
