COS oldest and beloved citizen J W Uncle Johnny Prewit marked his hundredth birthday with friends at his daughter's home Mrs Chas Manahan. He joked the second hundred may be rougher but will try to make it while remaining healthy and active. He relies on radio for news and kept in touch with locals and far off friends who sent greetings from Pecos and beyond. Four out of town friends traveled to Pecos to celebrate.

Reeves county general crop allotment more than doubles after protest by County Agent Ted Johnston. The revised figure is 2353 acres, near Johnston’s 2500 acre request, from an initial 1128 acres. Cantaloupe growers face heavy restrictions due to the Class A designation, with 600 acres expected to be planted. An exemption allows 20 acre small farms to grow any percentage of general crops, expanding acreage for larger farms.

Second Car Of Oil To Be Shipped Soon
H. F. Anthony owner of the Richard Shaw Anthony No 1 producer near Toyah said another car of oil from the well would be shipped next week. The first car, one of the few from Reeves county, was shipped last week. McNutt Refining Company of El Paso bought the first car and has contracted for the second.

Sunday Beer Sales Authorized in Pecos by City Action
Pecos city council repealed a Sunday beer ban and lifted the Sunday prohibition. A second ordinance keeps a 12 midnight to 7 am ban on all alcoholic beverage sales inside city limits. The emergency measure takes effect upon publication, with penalties from ten to one hundred dollars for violations. A nearby night club had agreed to follow the rules.
