Oden bags nine point buck with bow and arrow
Gary Oden of 1211 S. Eddy Sr. returned from a Colorado hunting trip with a nine point buck. He bagged the deer from 32 yards using a 55 pound bow and 312 magnum aluminum arrow, the arrow going through the animal and into the ground. Oden noted the buck wore velvet and anticipated shedding it before rifle season. He waited in deer bedding territory and said bow hunting requires getting within 50 yards. The trip was Aug 17 to Uncompahgre National Forest near Montrose, Colorado, with companions Roy and Linda Lee and others. Oden is active in Pecos Archery Club.
