The Pankey Auto Supply Co opened on the first floor of the Brandon Hotel Building in Pecos offering a full stock of automobile accessories. Mrs E wkey will manage the establishment while her husband travels to sell to filling stations. The firm will operate as a wholesale supplier and the Pankeys come from Fort Worth.
Bill Dean known to thousands as Bill Dean, died near San Angelo en route to Houston for artificial respiration. His death followed a rapid onset of infantile paralysis, with his family and friends sharing a city wide mourning and a final, brave effort to save him.
I R Titus reports Pecos highway work payrolls and truck rental amounts from last October to August, noting 350 workers left idle after August 1. He links relief bond support and Home Rule charter talks to NRA performance and county development plans.
Pecos approves a cost plus contract with Lane Texas Company to build a new soft water system from wells to homes. If a Public Works Administration loan is secured, Lane will receive an engineering fee plus 15 percent profit on actual costs, with top cost set at 295 000 dollars.

Dove season starts Friday September 1 and runs through October. Mourning doves are plentiful this year, drawing many hunters to fields. No license needed for in county hunting, while out of county license costs 2.00 for the year.
County Relief Administrator Ben Randalls reports over $1,000 spent on Reeves county relief with 66 percent going to unemployed white men. Of the totals $762.30 went to unemployed white workers and $283.80 to unemployed Mexicans and Negroes with families. Randalls says white labor gets priority if $24 million relief bonds pass, but states that no group will be left to suffer while hungry children are aided.
Six people were injured in an automobile accident near Wickett early Friday. Four were brought to Pecos by a Pecos Furniture Co. ambulance for treatment. Details of the crash were unavailable at press time.
The Pecos Chamber of Commerce plans a later Cantaloupe Day this year. Last year the event was on Labor Day and cantaloupes were given free to visitors, with the date likely postponed due to a late cantaloupe crop.
Red Bluff inches toward final approval as Public Works officials and engineers move toward a final board decision. Judge J E Starley departs for Washington while Ken Regan and Vernon Sullivan report engineers favor a seven hundred eighty thousand dollar grant with potential total project loan support.
