FTC orders cease and desist against Grolier over deceptive encyclopedia sales
The Federal Trade Commission ruled that Grolier Inc. of New York City used deceptive pricing and unfair sales practices in selling Encyclopedia Americana and related works. The unanimous decision requires corrective actions and imposes a door to door sales disclosure card, with the case upholding an earlier ruling by Judge Theodor P. von Brand.
