The 38th Papago Fair and Rodeo runs November 15 to 17 at Sells with tribal dancing arts crafts exhibits outdoor cafes and Papago cuisine. Rodeo events start November 16 at 10 a.m. followed by a two hour parade down main streets featuring bands floats dancers trick riders clowns and cowboys.
Arizona announces its National Teenager Pageant for ages 13 to 17 at the Ramada Inn East Phoenix on March 15 as the state prelim to the Miss National Teen-Ager Pageant in Atlanta in August 1975. Entrants may request information from the official certification office in Lithonia Georgia. Pageant schedule includes two readings and Papago arts and crafts demonstrations with the theme Children, Our Leaders of Tomorrow.
A national study of driver license and accident records shows drivers under 25 accounted for about 22 percent of licensed drivers but 36.3 percent of fatal crashes and 39.4 percent of all motor vehicle accidents in 1973, up from 1972 figures. In Arizona 25.5 percent of 1973 licensed drivers were under 25, with 311,662 youths. Arizona ranks 28th nationwide with 829 licensed drivers per 1000 age peers, Colorado leads with 999.
