Cub Scout Pack 354 will test safety practices and bicycle fitness in a Saturday rodeo at the high school parking lot. Scoutmaster Bruce Van Camp notes 7 a.m. inspections and a 9 a.m. rodeo with prizes, aided by Payson Rotary Club and a Payson Marshal's Office representative.
Members of Payson Girl Scout Troop 622 will join the Girl Scout Bicentennial Jubilee in Tempe on May 15. The event features a flag raising at noon and an evening pageant with heritage booths and concessions at Tempe Stadium, south of Broadway off 48th Street.
The Red Cross First Aid course taught by Bob Belk will start May 22 at 8 a.m. at the Forest Service Office on Highway 260. The session will convene in the building’s basement conference room.
The son of a Payson couple has been chosen for specialized training after completing Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas. Airman Mark A. Treiber, whose mother and stepfather are Mr. and Mrs. Perry Johnston of Payson, will attend the Air Training Command civil engineering mechanical electrical course at Sheppard AFB in Texas. He is a graduate of Phoenix Central High School.
