Bob Belk, Aztec Butane manager, faces a appeal over a fire department dismissal and backs light industry with limited federal funds. Don K Taylor, longest-residing candidate, warns for elderly and fixed income residents while urging prudent town growth. Bill Foster of Rim Country Printery supports tourism and eco friendly industrial development. Four candidates compete for the last two council seats with voting split by Beeline Highway sides at Town Hall and Fire Station. About 1,450 registered voters. prior turnout 78.2 percent. Recreation program approved for Payson in June
The Payson town council approved a two month summer recreation program set to run from June 7 to July 30. A committee of residents drafted activities including music archery badminton tennis swimming arts and crafts nature hikes and basketball. Four staff will administer the program at an estimated cost of 5000 with some participant fees.
