Baker named Payson High School principal

Rabid Coyote Attacks Man at Mead's Ranch
Gregory Lewis Marter, 23, was bitten by a coyote while walking his dogs at Mead's Ranch. He killed the animal with help from his dogs. the head was sent to Phoenix for rabies testing, which confirmed rabies later that day. Marter received hospital treatment and began rabies vaccinations. dogs will be quarantined. This marks the second rabies incident in the area this year following a fox attack in January.

Three year old struck by car in Payson neighborhood
A three year old boy escaped serious injury Sunday afternoon after being struck by a car on West Frontier Street. Driver Robert Kane, 21, said he braked when he saw what looked like a small animal. The boy was treated at Payson Hospital for minor scrapes and bruises.

Thompson Named New Payson School Superintendent
O J Thompson was named superintendent of Payson schools by the School Board after serving as high school principal. He previously coached basketball in Bisbee and studied at Palo Verde College Grand Canyon College and the University of Arizona. He begins July 1 replacing Dr Jody Matthews who resigned.
