Two area dumps stay open before July first deadline
The July 1 closing date for all open dumps on federal lands is near. Pine and Christopher Creek dumps remain open as the Gila County Supervisors arrange new plans. Pine dump had reopened after public pressure. Pine and Strawberry residents were found dumping along Fossil Creek road. Washington Park dump closed after a forest fire damaged the area. Greg Stamper, operator near Star Valley, is negotiating with county to resolve dump closure issues.
