County board approves airport grant in Payson
The Gila County Board of Supervisors approved a 17,195 grant from the state for Payson Airport at their July 9 meeting. Funds will pave and mark runway, build two taxiway turnarounds, a segmented circle, wind cone, an aircraft parking apron, and connecting taxiway. The board also set precinct constable salaries, appointed Ellen Sutton as Payson Precinct No 2 committeeman, and tentatively approved levies for Payson and East Verde Park Fire Districts.

UA students receive over nine thousand financial aid awards
The University of Arizona awarded financial aid to 9,118 students in the 1973-74 year. More than $8 million in scholarships, fee waivers, federal loans, and grants were given, about $1 million more than the previous year, according to J. J. Humphrey.
