Auction sale method touted for Carey act project

The American Falls Canal and Power company plans an auction sale for its Carey act project near Springfield Idaho on October 27. The land and water will be sold together at a maximum price of 40.50 per acre, with hopes the one sale method will become standard for Carey act disposals. The tract lies near Blackfoot in the Snake River valley and includes land some feet above water grade with affordable lift to irrigate. If successful the plan may enable cheaper perpetual water rights and broader use of the canal system by local farmers.
