Society Notes From Thursday Party At Commercial Club

The Thursday night party at the Commercial Club rooms hosted by Mr. and Mrs H. Sethe and Mr. and Mrs Wm Reilly featured artistic decorations of neparangia fern and wild source with green and white color scheme. Hostesses wore white gowns. hosts in dress suits. About five hundred attended, with nearly one hundred guests. Punch by Too thy Compton and Daley Crump. A lengthy luncheon followed and prizes were awarded: Mrs Muller and Mr W Gilmore won high scores, with Mrs LR Woodward and Mr Si Riebeling taking consolation prizes.

Native Son James Harrington Dies Suddenly at Payette

News of the Payette area reports James Harrington, a Idaho native with wealth from farms, died suddenly at home from apoplexy. He was 52, leaving a wife, a grown daughter, and a stepson Henry Weldner. Funeral services were held, with interment in Riverside cemetery.

Water in City Well Reaches 534 Feet Depth

The city well has reached 534 feet with good dry water rising within 8 to 9 feet of the top. A small centrifugal pump tested it at 100 to 140 gallons per minute, lowering water only 2 to 3 feet. Gas buildup caused frequent pump stoppages, so a larger pump will be sought for a fuller test and a report to council.

Pioneer Lamme Dies After Stroke While Unloading Refuse

D. S. Lamme a veteran Payette resident died of apoplexy while overseeing the unloading of a wagon at the Payette Vinegar Works. Born February 11 1842 in Illinois, he came to Idaho in 1863, worked in mining and business, then settled in Payette retiring a time. His remains were moved to Placerville to rest beside his wife.

Roosevelt ballot battle ends in Idaho court ruling
