The Idaho Baptist State Convention of 42 churches opened at Baptist churches in Southern Idaho with Judge Frank S. Dietrich delivering the annual address. Rev. W. E. Henry of Twin Falls was unable to arrive for the sermon. Rev. C. M. Hill preached in his stead. Dr. W. B. Hinson of Portland and Miss Inga Pettersen of Chicago spoke at various sessions, with the convention enrollment at 29 delegates and ongoing through Thursday.

M. D. Chandler cashier of the Fruit Growers bank left for Spokane to wed Miss May Norris of Belle Fourche South Dakota. They will marry in Tacoma on Saturday and honeymoon along the coast before returning to Payette around October 10. Local friends anticipate a cordial reception upon their return.
The Idaho Canning Company ends a record season with all products contracted and shipments planned. Genera L V Patch notes superior quality and strong demand while operations ran double shifts to meet goals. thirty five cars of peas and other fruits were processed and about 120 workers were employed at peak, with payrolls averaging $1500 weekly.
Jacob Sloneker, born November 22, 1831 in Penn Five Points, died September 27 at his Payette home at age 89. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted October 10, 1861 in the 15th Iowa Infantry, reenlisted January 1, 1864, and served until discharge April 24, 1865. He fought in multiple battles including Shiloh, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, and Atlanta. He never married and joined the Church of Christ after the war, later at Fasstt. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon with the G A R at the grave.
The Idaho prune crop of 1312 sets a new state record with 278 car loads shipped from Payette Valley, including 191 car loads from Emmett district and 87 from the Payette area. Apple harvest follows, with forty packing houses busy and fruit praised for worm-free quality and color. Bible School promotes new classes as the community enters a new term with morning and evening preaching scheduled.
Nest Sunday the church sets aside a Harvest Day across all departments. Evening at 7 30 features Sunday School promotions with class exercises. Members are urged to attend and bring a recruit. The Endeavor Society will beautify the building and the sermon centers on Harvest.

Weldon Wilcox, seven, suffers a nose wound from a pitchfork incident in a barnyard but is expected back in school soon. H. E. Dunn reports eastern cities recovering, with Taft’s chances rising. A Emma Thestre meeting drew a large crowd as Senator Borah critiqued politics and urged defeating Borah to aid Wilson. Various residents travel to Boise, Notus, and Minnetonka area.
