Growers in the Payette Valley predict a record harvest of poles peaches and pears with hundreds of new bearing acres and trees loaded beyond capacity. While the valley expects a full crop and rising prices, eastern and midwestern regions report weather damage reducing their yields and keeping the market uncertain.

Payette church plans new building to seat 1200

The Christian Church led by Reverend W. Be. Bobbett preached on memory and urged funding for a modern $30,000 facility. Officials voted to start soliciting funds. A June 4 excursion from Payette to Emmett is planned with events surrounding Y M C A work and a Children’s Day program in June.

Deputy Horticultural inspector A B Kern has completed census work north of Payette and moves southward to the beach area. He records owner counts, tree varieties, and aims to determine exact fruit tree acreage in the valley, expecting completion in about three weeks.
