Emmett and Payette Clubs Hold Joint Get Together

A joint Emmett and Payette Commercial Club meeting at the Elite Opera House launched a key step for Payette Valley industry. Delegations of 102 from Emmett toured Payette’s Cold Storage Plant, heard talks on fruit cooperation, and adopted a resolution to unite fruit growing and packing efforts across the valley.

Payette Brick Yards Adopt Boss Kiln System

W F Sherwood owner of the Payette Brick yards adopts a boss kiln system producing brick equal to pressed article. Two kilns hold 375000 bricks each with daily output of 12500 green bricks. Yard plans to sell brick for the new city hall. yard shows model brick wall for quality demonstration.

Payette man J W Prestel suffers apoplexy at office

J W Prestel a prominent Payette businessman collapsed from an apoplexy Friday afternoon at the mill office. He was taken to Woodward Hospital, where doctors are fighting to save him. A slight improvement was noted midweek, but his left side remains paralyzed. He is past seventy, with family at his bedside.

Public Library Opens For Afternoons And Book Loans

The Public Library announces hours Monday Wednesday and Saturday from 4 to 6 p m for borrowing books and submitting applications. The Free Traveling Library is located there. People with books to donate may call 66 Red-2 rings for pickup. The Library Committee will meet at the Library rooms over the post office Friday May 1 3 o clock.

Commencement Week Program At Emma Theatre

The community’s public schools host a week of exercises led by Rev. Henry Van Engelen. Highlights include the Baccalaureate Sermon May 19, the Senior Class Play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a lawn vesper service, art exhibit, juniors’ reception, and Friday commencement Exercises with Rev. W. E. Bobbitt delivering the address. The program features the High School Choirs and Orchestra performing pieces such as Mendelssohn and Handel selections.

Road expert in Payette drives Buffalo Pitts roller

C W Welker of Portland arrived in Payette to oversee the Buffalo Pitts roller purchase and street work. The machine is smoothing Eighth Street and will be used to prepare rock grinding bins. After utilities are set, paving from the depot to Highth will be macadamized under Welker’s guidance.

Little Nora Buxton Dies At Boise

Nora Buxton eight year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Buxton died at a Boise hospital from Haemophilia after a recent pneumonia. She had nosebleeds and a bleeding tooth prior to death. The body was taken to Cromwell Iowa for burial following services at the Christian church. J Barry, Payette Valley Railroad official, bought a forty horsepower Mitchell automobile.

Hogue to Move Denney Co Packing on Moss Site

Titanic Wreck Film Shown at Erma Theatre

On Tuesday evening May 28 at the Erma Theatre a thousand feet of film will be shown depicting the wreck of the Titanic. The Nin presents the vessel leaving Southampton and includes scenes of lifeboats and the Carpathia rescuing survivors. A passenger who endured the lifeboat ordeals provided the description for the footage.
