Growers in the Payette region report extensive interest in storing apples. All available space at the Payette Cold Storage plant has been contracted, with potential expansion if demand grows and guarantees are provided. Col Muller notes readiness to insulate and expand upper storage if needed to handle a larger crop this year.
Payette Camp No 337 W O W holds a Memorial Service at the Baptist Church Sunday evening June 2 at 7 PM honoring deceased neighbors with a program including Baptist Choir, Rev Van Engelen, violinist Miss Laird of Portland, Miss Munn of Portland, Memorial Sermon Rev Van Engel, Address W C Marion of Denver, and closing hymns.
The sermon titled Base Ball and Life will be presented at the Methodist Church Sunday evening at eight. Base ball fans and all who admire the American game are welcome, with a special invitation to young people. The pastor will also preach at 11 Sunday morning. Sunday School is at 10 and Epworth.
Regular services at the Christian church next Sunday morning with Bible school and preaching. A Children’s Day program is set for Sunday evening. An offering will be taken for Foreign Missions. Building Fund grows, raising hope for the new church building soon. Mothers and friends' loyalty boosts community support.
Commercial clubs of New Plymouth Fruitland and Payette travel by special Payette Valley Railroad train to Emmett on Tuesday June 4 for a half holiday gathering. Businesses in Payette close early to join the event with Payette ball team and Payette Band attending. round trip fares 1 for adults 50 cents for children. Arrangements call for departure times from Payette at 1 PM and stops at Fruitland and New Plymouth.
After commencement the 1912 graduates were feted at Ice Cream parlors with Prof and Mrs Turner and Mr and Mrs Neilson attending. A large assembly hosted by General Patch and others followed, featuring elegant rooms, decor, and a cant game to mingle guests. Numerous local couples and families were listed among attendees and hostesses in a formal social page excerpt.
Col. C. F. Muller of Payette Cold Storage reports that Baker Preserving Company of Denver plans a June visit to Payette to evaluate establishing a berry preserving plant here. If a market exists for red and black raspberries, cherries and red currants, the plant would provide a ready outlet, reduce waste, and stabilize local berry sales by freezing fruit for syrups and soda fountains.
The G A R W T Sherman Post 31 and Idaho W R C thank Payette citizens for a memorial sermon. Ex Mayor Cougharort donated his opera house for the event. Rev Smith inspired with high sentiment and Christian civilization under free institutions. Praise for Payette’s ge club and ministerial association.
A band concert program set for Saturday evening May 30 at the corner of Center Ave and Eighth St. includes The Blue Label March by W H Kiefer, The Conqueror Overture by K L King, El Capitan and Gallia’s Triumphal marches, Serenade In Love's Dreamland and Billboard March among others conducted by A B Kirkendall. Also announced is a preaching event at Crystal Bottom Schoolhouse on June 4 at 8 pm by Rev Henry Van Engelen with all in the community invited.
The Payette High School held its eighteenth annual commencement Friday at Emma Theatre, crowning the largest graduating class yet. The program featured musical numbers from the school choir and orchestra, a solo by Ruby Landon, and an address by W. E. Bobbett urging aggressive, principled manhood and womanhood. Diploma presentations followed by words of congratulations from M. F. Alter, after which the choir performed a closing piece. Graduates listed include Jane Clare Alney, Grace Iven Powman, Ruby Landon, Ruth Evelyn Maule, Helen Mona Helley, and Robert Bruce Shafer among others. Class colors green and white. flower white rose.
Notice from Payette Idaho dated May 28 1312 states merchants will close half day on the afternoon of June 4 1312 to promote the Get Together Meeting in Barmett area. Businesses may stay open until the excursion train departs at 1 00 PM. F Arnould of the Arnould Automobile Company recently returned from Boise where he demonstrated and sold to Judge Blake a fine forty horse power Case auto. He drove from Boise to Little Camas nearly a hundred miles in four hours on mountain roads without changing from high gear. On the return trip through a storm low gears were needed. average speed was about twenty miles per hour and only one quart of water could be added upon arrival at the garage.
The Payette valley sees higher wool prices with about five hundred thousand pounds slated for warehouse delivery at 3.50 per ewe and 2.50 per lamb. Congress debates the wool schedule, stirring market caution and threats to Idaho sheep men, while shipments and prices improve from last year. Meanwhile, Vera Hollenback and Keith Bures wed quietly, and Rowena Smith nearly drowned but was rescued. Mrs. Sarah P. Driscoll heads to state Rebekah events, with Ada Brundage Brundage attending Grand Lodge.
A Caldwell team traveled to Payette for a Sunday baseball game that drew a fair crowd at the track grounds. Seven innings were played with Payette leading 6 to 0. Debris from the blustery wind dispersed the crowd as spectators witnessed the rout.
At 11 AM on Sunday an address will be given on the Sea of Time. In the afternoon a memorial service will be held with this church. The public is cordially invited. Also a free demonstration of a gel generating burner will be shown all week and next in the old Keith stand offering significant fuel savings.
A special train for the Democratic convention to Coeur d Alene Idaho will depart Pocatello June 1 arriving Nampa about 4 20 PM and Payette about 5 PM the same day. G F Johnson agent.

Nelson Maule, previously sick with the Maule family, departed Tuesday for an extended trip East after visiting the family this past week.
