The John Webster Knawds Post of the American Legion will lead Memorial Day exercises with a 10 am parade from Payette hall to the cemetery followed by ceremonies. Veterans, G A R members, the Women’s Relief Corps, fraternal groups, and Payette schools are invited to participate in the lineup. An afternoon parade at 2 pm will pass Gorham’s corner to Center Avenue and High School Park for a World War Veterans review, with an address to follow. A countywide call to participate is issued and ten o’clock sharp is emphasized.

Soldiers organize post in Payette County for American Legion
On Tuesday evening returning soldiers sailors and Marines met at the Court House to form John Webster Rhoades Post of the American Legion. Adjutant-General L V Patch named honorary President Captain J Crouch Temporary President Clyde Shanks Temporary Secretary and Sent C F Fitch Temporary Treasurer. A second meeting is set for next Monday at 8 PM with expected membership around 400 once all boys return.

A Little Shook Up in Payette as Spray Wagon Accident Uses Cane
S Sargood, walking with a cane in Payette, narrowly escaped serious injury when a spray wagon ran over his legs. He was underneath as the siphon was being shut off and the team frightened, a wheel crossing his legs and bruising him badly. He declined hospital, preferring to walk it off, recalling twenty years in a cow camp.

Payette County District Court opened with Judge B. S. Varian of Weiser presiding. First case, Roberts v City of Payette, sought 2500 dollars for a broken arm from sidewalk snow. Jury returned a verdict for the City after deliberation. Bowker v Seawell settled with each side paying own costs. State of Idaho v Bustos brothers pled guilty with judgment set for Friday. Fruitland State Bank v Payette National Bank set for Thursday, West Coast Refining Co. v Payette Modern Garage set for Friday. Jury dismissed for term after Bowker Seawell. Judgeship praised. Payette Band Gears Up After Civic Support Lapses
The Payette band directed by LeRoy Maule presented a delightful concert on the Bancroft corner last Saturday. Despite poor financial backing, about 20 players have progressed greatly in four months, funding their own instruments and uniforms, and continuing to perform when asked. Citizens urge the County Commercial Club or local businessmen to provide sufficient financial support to sustain the band and its leader.
