Lieut Colonel Patch Returns to Payette After War Service
Lieut Col L V Patch returns to Payette Monday evening after 15 months away serving in the great war. He appears unfazed by time abroad, declaring Payette will be his future home. A neck and neck game between Payette and Council stretched to ten innings, Council pulling ahead 6 to 5. Welser defeated Cambridge 18 to 4, Huntington beat Midvale 12 to 10. Miss Hazel White Red Cross nurse received a warm Harmony Rebekah Lodge No 22 welcome at Odd Fellows Hall. Irene Harland presided with readings and music, Rev Adams offered a welcome, and Miss White praised the home front workers, especially Red Cross. Relatives from four generations attended as Miss White spoke little of her own deeds.

Popular Payette Bride Weds Army Officer in Payette
Miss Mary Harlene Satoris daughter of Mr and Mrs P M Satoris and Corp Floyd M Nave son of Mr and Mrs J H Nave were married at the bride’s home in Payette in an Episcopal ceremony. The groom wore Army dress uniform and the reception followed with pink and white decorations and music. Guests from Caldwell Weiser Lewiston Ontario Blackfoot and Spokane attended. Afterward the couple planned to reside in Lewiston. Over 100 guests present. Also reported a dispute between Walter Catto and O G Summersville over irrigation water ending in Catto’s assault conviction and a $50 fine.

Payette County Celebrates Victory Loan Oversubscription
Payette County reports a splendid Overage of 22400 on the Victory Loan with a county quota of 150000 and an extra subscrip tion of 181750. The county ranked 61st in the state to raise its quota through county banks. The drive did not require soliciting returning soldiers, though several bought bonds voluntarily. County Chairman J F Orr expresses appreciation to the County Executive Committee and all volunteers. Paine brothers home from overseas Marsh and Forrest Paine returned recently with Marsh serving in the 1st Division and experiencing heavy combat.

State Highway Men Visit Payette For Street Repairs
State Highway maintenance man Tom Clark and engineer J D Wood arrived in Payette with their road repair outfit. They removed gravel laid on the highway between the Payette river bridge and the city to ease traffic. They demonstrated equipment and shared street and highway maintenance ideas with city officials at luncheon hosted by the Mayor and City Council at the Hotel Hancroft. The pair oversee the Boise to New Meadows route and attended a meeting on Willow Creek to discuss forming Highway District No 2. A large land deal involving 160 acres on the Payette Oregon Slope was reported, selling for 22000 to John Cruse who will move to his new home after harvest.
