Pea Crop Sparks Full Blast Factory Run at Idaho Plant

The Idahoes ring Company’s plant runs at full blast as the largest pea acreage yet, with sixty five workers now and eighty next week. Manager L V Patch says six weeks of steady operation will can thirty cars of peas, then peaches apricots and pears follow, with apples late into November. The new process man J E West from Portland leads the department. Payroll averages $1,000 weekly, and growers report up to $150 per acre, averaging $100 per acre.

Payette July Fourth Celebration Promises Fun

Payette invites visitors for a full day of amusement on July Fourth with a forenoon program and sports including balloon ascension, high dive, wrestling, broncho busting, and a boxing match. Some attractions are free and Miller Amusement will provide additional high class entertainments. Dispute Over Water Pipeline Rights Led to Assault

Paul Van Der Kar bought land with no water and sought a water ditch and pipeline rights from neighbors. After a series of offers, arbitration, and court action, the jury awarded damages and Van Der Kar began digging the pipe, where he was struck by Mr. Ramey. Judge Bryan ruled the pipeline must follow the sworn court line.

Payette Garage Changes Hands This Week

Annett Snyder sold the Payette Garage to Fr Arnold of Boise who will operate as Arnold Automobile Company. Arnold, a noted car expert with eighteen years in the field, will manage the Payette outlet. News notes also state H D Ficke joined the City Market staff, promising well cut meats, and a nearby help wanted line for a light saddle with inquiries at Star Bakery.

Boise Men Praise Valley in Payette excursion

Boise merchants Dono van J W Robinson and Fay D Young of Idaho Trust & Savings Co toured the Payette Valley on a forty mile orchard circuit. They praised the development of well kept orchards and new residences, noting the valley’s growth and promising to visit more often in the future.

Christian Church Announces Services and Guest Minister

Payette Council Adopts Ordinances and Sprinkler Bids

Payette Idaho City Council met in adjourned session with President Woodward presiding. The body discussed lighting, sidewalks, and ditch responsibility, approved Sprinkler bids from Studebaker and Austin Sprinkling Co, and passed Ordinances regulating vehicles and authorizing a 21000 municipal bonds election for a bridge and city hall. The council adjourned to June 27 and reconvened to award sprinkling wagon bids and publish bicycle on sidewalk notice.

Bear Attack Leaves Payette Herder Injured In Dark

Joe Lucas a Payette area herder employed by Peace Brothers was attacked in darkness by an infuriated bear with two cubs. He sustained severe lacerations to an arm leg and injuries to face and neck before his dogs distracted the bear and allowed him to crawl to camp. Lucas was taken to Crawford for medical care and expected to recover, though he remains in serious condition.
