Payette Fourth of July Big Celebration Arrangements

Payette prepares for a grand Fourth of July with all committees reporting complete. A large barbecue, balloon ascent, high dive from a 100 foot tower, high wire act, and broncho busting contest are planned under Austin McWilliams. Boxing, wrestling, foot races, and music from two bands will accompany a full day of events and prizes. Local minstrel show is previewed with mixed reception.

Death of Donald Merritt in Payette City

Donald Merritt eldest son of Mr and Mrs J E B Merritt died June 1 after two years of consumption at his parents home in Payette City. Born in Perry Kansas he was twenty one and moved to Payette nine years ago with his parents. Funeral Sunday at three at home, with Rev Howarth and burial at Riverside cemetery. Modern Woodmen of America, of which he was a member, conducted services. A large crowd paid tribute to his memory and its many offerings.

Payette City council debates lighting and ordinances

Payette city council of Payette Idaho discusses lighting contracts with Idaho Grey Light Power Co. for street and fire protection, authorizes purchase of a sprinkling wagon, addresses hotel grease trap sanitation, passes several ordinances including weed removal and dray wagon rules, and schedules adjournment to June 26 1911 amid reports of a wrestling match controversy and a death in St Louis.

Mass sheep killed in dog attack near Waabor river

A large pack of dogs attacked a flock near Waabor last Friday night. About seventy head of blooded sheep were killed or drowned after fleeing through a wire fence into the Roake river. Mr. Cortner reports his best sheep were destroyed. The story also notes community notices from the M C A about employment and outdoor programs, a club rename to Navajos, and a Scout Patrol formation.
