Citizens will gather Wednesday evening to discuss organization of a district fair and annual exhibit in Payette. Aiming to hire a publicity man and fund city advertising, the meeting at Elite Opera House will outline plans, costs, and civic pride efforts. A committee on invitation will invite residents to attend.
Last Thursday the City Council held a routine yet busy session. The mayor was ordered to file complaints in police court over dog tax delinquencies. The lighting contract with Idaho Oregon Light Power was continued with a decision expected within 30 days. A plan to install flood racks was approved, and pipe work to relieve the south ditch drainage was discussed with property owners offering to lay eight inch pipe if water flow is provided. The cabinet for the city office was approved at 165 dollars, and water mains along Tioga Street were referred to the water works committee. Bills for timbers in the sewer were questioned by the mayor, then held for investigation. Water for pork storage was to be purchased from the People’s Irrigation Company. An alley vacating ordinance near the Moss Mercantile Warehouse received first readings, with routine bills and business concluding the meeting.
An all day basket meeting is set for Sunday June 12 at the Pence Brothers ranch at the mouth of Big Willow Creek. Rev Geo H Turner of Payette Presbyterian Church will conduct three services including preaching at 1 pm and 3 pm and a Young People meeting with sermon. Services held in the large barn under construction. All invited. bring baskets and stay for a day of worship.
A delightful May 1 gathering at Mrs. Crouch’s new home drew about forty Royal Neighbors and Woodmen guests. The evening featured guessing games and conversation, with a souvenir spoon presented from the lodge as clocks chimed.

The presbyterian church plans preaching at Pence Brothers' ranch with the pastor, and Sunday School will be canceled as most teachers and officers attend the Big Willow Creek meeting.
Friday evening last a group of high school peers gathered at Miss Dorothy Merritt’s home for an enjoyable social. The attendees included Miss Edna Gou er, Ethel Ensign, Lois Moore, Rachel Thurston, Ida Gorrie, Bessie Thomas, Mildred Dressler, Zadie Keith, Dorothy Merritt, and Mrs. Florence Smeed of Bolee, along with Messrs Kay Johnson, Wile Tom Clark, Olive Cumming, Gilbert Holt, Tom Delscoli, Hapert Rouse, Ray Paine, Bruce Campbell, Harry Oldsby, Don Merritt, Alvin Hansel and Ronald Walker. The Great Shoe Sale at John W. Sur’s continues.

A meeting in Pioneer hall New Plymouth gathered delegates from Payette Seanett Caldwell and Parks Store to organize a cooperative cheese factory. Prof French outlined successful cooperatives and the group decided to form a company with 25000 capitalization and to take over the existing cold storage and cheese plant run by Hinchlift.
A public notice invites.Payette residents to visit the Edison theatre for both forenoon and afternoon showings on Tuesday June 14. Attendees can drop in to view pictures while waiting for the parade and again before the evening performance after the circus, with a comfortable seating area and a food line available.
Sargent and Carvett, proprietors of Med Apple Ranch, report a remarkable event as a single tree split through the trunk and was destroyed by the weight of its fruit. The unusually heavy crop is noted, with other trees breaking in the valley on prior occasions but never so early in the season.
The Southern Idaho Christian Missionary convention will be held in Payette June 16 26 with many delegates expected from most of the state. The program features addresses sermons reports and discussions across a busy schedule including leaders from Caldwell Meridian Boise Nampa Emmett and Weiser plus fraternal delegates from other evangelical churches. Boarding meal and travel arrangements are noted for attendees as packing houses and packing companies in Payette prepare for the fruit season.
