Epworth League cabinet met at the parsonage planning events to be announced at the 6 30 devotional Sunday night. The 6 30 Sunday service is at the Christian church. Ladies Aid Bazaar Friday afternoon at the church offers chicken dinner.
The Farmers Cooperative Creamery tells patrons that annual dividend checks will be distributed on December 20 instead of December 4 as previously stated. The notices emphasize sending checks now as a Christmas present.
An attempted safe break in the Assessor's office occurred between Wednesday night and Friday morning near Thanksgiving. The thief tried to pry the combination plate, tamper with the door, and gain entry by removing the door jam with a knife or similar tool before fleeing. It is suspected the Minatuirs were involved and money from tax collections may have been inside.
A Payette Idaho man lost his car after a pickup with a pedestrian on the Oregon trail near Pendleton. The robber demanded cash, fled with $35, then drove the vehicle off a 50-foot embankment, escaping injured. The incident occurred about a mile west of Pendleton en route to Portland.
At the November 28 election Highway District No 2 chose a full new board. N M Jenson of North Payette George Yager from the district and George F Nesbit from Willow Creek will serve as directors. Retiring members Fred Harper Charley Bolton and R H Woods are thanked for improvements to the public highway.
A regional consolidation forms the H F Labbs Cheese Company uniting seven H F Labbs factories and five C E Voight units to central offices in Pocatello. The venture plans to ship 150000 pounds monthly to California and offers farmers monthly milk payments. Idaho Tech announces a 4 to 6 week dairying short course starting January 7 to support Southeastern Idaho expansion.
Dennis L. Dean and Miss Anna May Hutchinson united in marriage December 5 at the bride’s mother Mrs Benny Hutchinson home Payette Idaho. Judge Calvin Keller pronounced the ring ceremony in a family gathering followed by a sumptuous turkey dinner. The bride, a longtime local, and groom known as Miston plan to reside in Glenns Ferry after a brief honeymoon. The Enterprise joins friends in offering congratulations.
H. B. Lindquist of Town Avenue two miles north of Payette lost a barn and about 400 apple boxes when a quickly spreading fire destroyed the packing house. An oil stove used that evening caused the blaze. the fire department arrived late to save the structure. No insurance covered the apples though the building had minor coverage.
Deputy George Warden exhibits a large wild goose claimed as the season's first. Reports place the bird killed several miles north of Payette along the river during a disturbance investigation.
Walter Leo James and Arthur Edwards Browning of Route 1 Payette enlisted in the U S Navy at Boise on November 29 and head to San Diego for training. About 200 cattle owned by J L Wells and Walter Pence were brought in this week to finish on alfalfa meal at the Idaho Alfalfa Milling Co yard. A silk underwear display is advertised at the Golden Rule Store balcony.

Mrs. F. H. Hogue and Mrs. Homer Settle hosted an afternoon of Mah-Jongg and bridge at the Bancroft hotel and Mrs. Hogue’s home. The event featured Oriental decor with Chinese screens dragons and hand decorated candles. Fifteen tables hosted games with prizes including a rose brooch for the grand prize and consolation prizes for other participants. Attendees included Mrs. Persson and out of town guests from Hamilton Weiser Joch Portland and Caldwell.
Local Knights of Pythias members plan to attend the District Convention in Nampa on Monday evening December 10. Lodges across the district will compete in exemplifying work with teams vying for district honors. Payette members will travel on train No 24 at 5 05 PM and return on No 17 urging full participation.

The writer notes printers and carpenters in demand, references Payette Valley residents, and mentions Santa Claus gifts at Johnson Variety Store.

Flock, a noted Ontario rancher and corn authority, recently returned to his Payette county work and announced plans to reside on his ranch after the holidays.
Albert Weighert, a Holland-born resident of Payette for two years, left Monday for Portland then California seeking a coastal location. He has helped beautify Payette homes with plants and shrubs and will be missed by local flower enthusiasts while Payette greenhouse activity continues with Mrs Geneway and D H Snowberger still in business.

G G Bollinger encounters a large buck deer near the U S Ranch on Dead Ox Flat while driving along Mall Route No 3. The animal crosses the road then leaps fences and heads toward the western hills. The deer appears unmolested and may winter nearby.
Payette Grange plans its next meeting at 7 40 P M on Tuesday with time to discuss a proposed national cooperative marketing agency. A local advertiser notes the ad went through twice and drew many inquiries showing advertising yields results.
