Company Scores at Practice for Governor Trophy

An army company held a Sunday practice shoot to shape rifle bars for encampment at Lowe the Flat. Capt Fitch notes scores are satisfactory though ranges are challenging with 200 and 300 yard shots. Officers believe several men may win the Governor’s trophy if overall averages meet or exceed 38, while many privates are new to range work. The following score list shows 10 shots per range, out of 50.

Enthusiastic Temperance Meeting Draws Largest Fayette Crowd

Sunday evening drew what attendees claimed was the largest audience ever at the Emma Theatre for a temperance talk by Alarese True, organizer of the Abtoost Episcopal Temperance League of Chago. The speaker held the crowd’s attention for an hour and a half, with such zeal that applause paused. Edith Bundy and Eva Nicholson of Des Moines visited at M. W. Watts’s home. Bundy teaches at Drake University, while registrar Cora Hanna accompanied them and left for Des Moines last Wednesday.

Inspection Draws Thousands to Cold Storage Plant

A valley crowd visited the new ice storage facility last Saturday with about 3000 people touring the plant. Council Adjourned Session Hears Power Plant Report

The council adjourned Monday evening after hearing an engineer report on Prestel Power Plant and an ordinance creating spread bearing Garat on. The engineer said 175 horsepower could power a municipal pumping plant with work on the rough site. A committee was formed to locate the old pumping huts on the Pay atte river and report findings. The full council will reconvene Friday to discuss the cement sidewalk widening on Eighth Street.
