Fancy Work Club Opens Season at Mrs Rogier’s Salem Home

Homecoming and Memorial Day at Local Church
On Sunday September 10 the church celebrated its Homecoming and Memorial with 114 attendees including visitors. The men’s class reached 39 under Mr Gordon Wooters, and former superintendent D F Blankinship led Communion. A tribute to early church builders was read, a sermon on Faith delivered, and a baptism followed the afternoon services. A pageant “Under the Royal Banner” closed the day.

Mrs Josie Vallow left in late July for a visit to Los Angeles aboard the Golden State Limited from St Louis to see her son J A Vallow. She enjoyed 20 000 attending a Hollywood Bowl concert, saw art at Forest Lawn Glendale, and noted Pacific Ocean waves and parks. She traveled with relatives in Riverside Long Beach and Chicago before returning home last Friday.

Mary Jane Brown born December 19 1851 in Pope township Illinois entered rest September 8 1939 aged 87 9 19. She married Thomas J Christie October 30 1872. Surviving children are James W Christie Jesse M Christie Marion F Christie Carl Thomas Christie and Elsie Lake. Pallbearers were grandsons.
