Methodist Sunday School Hosts 71 Attendance May 15

Attendees at the Methodist Sunday School numbered 71 for May 15. A birthday song honored Caroline and Sandy Ehrat, Mr and Mrs Dow Jones, John Revis and Jesse Walton. Numerous local visits and gatherings followed across Marion and surrounding towns.

Graduations Announced for Ballance Grandsons

Mr and Mrs Roy Ballance received graduation notices for two grandsons. Ronald Seats, son of Alden and Mrs Seats, will graduate May 30 at Trinidad High School in Trinidad Colorado. Edwin Leo Ballance, son of Leo Ballance, will graduate June 2 at Medford Senior High School in Medford Oregon. Both are grandchildren of Mr and Mrs Jesse Belcher of Patoka.

Perkins Family Reunion Celebrates Nan Perkins 87th Birthday

Members and friends gathered Sunday May 15 at Vernon Park to honor Nan Perkins on her 87th birthday with a noon dinner and social visit. Band Parents of Unit 100 Schools will hold a regular session Tuesday evening May 24 at 7 30 at the High School. All Band Parents are urged to attend.

Vernon Good Will Club Meets With LaHoma Hilliard

The Vernon Good Will Club met with LaHoma Hilliard on Wednesday May 4 with fifteen members and two visitors Mrs Mic Manus and Carl Hilliard. Afternoon work focused on cutting rags for rugs for LaHoma. The group reported sending 19 get well cards in April and Olga Kleeman donated a wheelchair to accompany a hospital bed. Prizes in games went to Dora Eversman Anna Lange Emma Protz and Fern Arnold. The club adjourned to meet with Ann DesRuisseaux.

Mother’s Day Prayers And Repainted Chapel At Mound Chapel

Sunday School attendance totaled sixty five on Mother’s Day at Mound Chapel Church. Members and guests enjoyed solos poems and tributes led by Mrs. Paul Torrence Mrs. Alfred Jett and Rev Ralph E Willis. The interior received a complete repaint enhancing the service setting. C H Arnold of Bozeman Montana visited relatives while Patoka attendees joined the Kaskaskia Associational Girl’s Auxiliary House party in Salem.

Sunbeams Pre School Group Meets at Baptist Church May 7

The Sunbeams pre school group gathered at the Baptist Church on May 7 with Patty Sharp as president welcoming Judy Carter Thelma Gillett Dick Nelson Ruth Dwight Thomas Kathryn Don Nattier and Sharon Kaye Crawford recording secretary calling the roll and sharing Bible verses about Mother A Mother’s Day playlet was performed. The president and secretary reported visits to Miss Bettie’s room at school last week and vacation Bible School plans were set for May 80. Children enjoyed nut cups multicolored mints a gift from Mrs. Brown. Mrs. Emil Nattier with Mrs Halden Nelson served kolache and decorated cupcakes. Favors were all day suckers.
