The Patoka Alumni will hold its Annual Alumni Banquet on Saturday night June 3 at 8 o clock. Committees include Entertainment Rose Mojonnier Florence Cain and others with invitations to all members to attend with a guest. Dues 25 cents and guest rate 50 cents. Glen Hill is president.
Zion edged the Cubs 9 to 8 in a hard fought game as Patoka softball opened week two. The Yankees exploded for 14 runs while the Cardinals managed 9 in the 14 to 9 loss.
The schedule shows matchups on May 15 with Yankees versus Cubs and Phillies versus Zion. May 17 features Vernon against Cards and Phillies versus Yankees. May 22 has Zion versus Cards and Cubs versus Vernon. May 24 rounds out with Cubs versus Cards.

On May 3 at one o'clock Miss Dot Doolen of Vernon married S. A. Willett of Shobonier at the bride’s sister home in St Louis. Rev. C Carlton officiated the ring ceremony. The decor featured cut flowers and the couple shared lunch with witnesses including Mrs T R Cox, Mrs Isabel Protz, C D Doolen, Dorothy Doolen, and Mrs Clara Muffin.
The American Home Department of the Patoka Woman's Club will host a Mother and Daughter luncheon at 1 60 p m on Saturday May 13 in the high school gym. Members should bring a daughter or guest. Twelve tables depict the months with each chair responding with a table number. A memorial will honor departed members. Members are urged to attend and share a May Day celebration with spring and birthdays.
Mrs Jn Mbesrame a fourth year student at Centralia High was on the Centralia Grain Judging Team at the Sec tional Judging Contest in Vandalia on May 5. Four teams from each school judged horses hogs beef cattle Jerseys and grain with about 400 students in attendance. Charles an agricultural student at Centralia won the grain ribbon and will represent the school at the State Contest in Urbana in June.

Illinois reports 3000 new oil wells producing about 7.5 million gallons daily. Six wells are completed each day with an average of 250 barrels or 10 500 gallons per well. New field output dwarfs old southeastern Illinois regions with 14 000 wells averaging 9 000 barrels daily.

Marion county feeders sent livestock through St. Louis Producers at National Stock Yards this week. Cecil Jett from Patoka delivered 164 cwt for Roy Murray at 6.90 dollars per cwt. Harold Murray also from Patoka earned 6.90 per cwt on his consignments. Ralph Patton of Walnut Hill received the top price 6.95 per cwt for well finished porkers averaging 212 pounds.
Thirty three relatives gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs Irvon Bowen and Emily with baskets for a celebration. Afternoon visitors included Fred Adams and family Mat Belcher and wife and Donald Adams and wife.
