Octave Nattier a Patoka businessman dies in his sleep after a brief illness. He founded and operated a large store in Taylorville and served the Patoka community for decades. An inquest ruled death from natural causes. He left a wife Katie and two children Helen and Robert, with siblings and extended family mourning his loss.

The Patoka town board postpones the annual clean up campaign to June 5 through June 11. Citizens are urged to cut weeds on their property and remove junk to reduce health hazards and mosquito breeding. The town will not haul junk this year to save costs.

Tragic High Speed Train Hits Motor Truck in St Elmo
A Penns fast passenger train struck a gasoline laden motor truck on St Elmo main street, killing driver Van Lee Smith age 19 and his younger brother Lyle.
