Benefit Softball Games Draw Large Crowd

More than twenty three thousand high school and college students in Illinois benefited from the National Youth Administration during the 1938 39 term. Lawrence J Schmidt deputy NYA administrator reports total aid of 1 220 630 dollars with 17 121 in high schools and 6 678 in higher education.

Mrs Hattie Bratcher Dies After Illness in Washington
Mrs Hattie Wadkins Bratcher widow of Steve Bratcher of Pomeroy Washington died at 2 a m Sunday July 16 after a five year invalidism. She traveled with her brother Oliver Wadkins to make a home here. She leaves three sisters and three brothers. Remains were taken back to Pomeroy for burial with Oliver and Ed Wadkins.
