Illinois unveils updated official highway map and record mileage
The Illinois Highway Department released an up to date official highway map noting 8,464.57 miles open to traffic as of January 1, 1930, with 1,588.63 state aid and 6,875.49 bond issue miles. It lists state aid and bond issue under contract figures and states Illinois built 742.91 miles of bond and aid roads last year. Director Harry H. Cleaveland and Chief Highway Engineer Frank T. Sheets prepared new policies for county allotments to be presented at the Champaign Urbana short course, followed by Gov. Louis L. Emmerson addressing road builders.

A Tuesday morning crash occurred about a mile south of Shobonier during a funeral service. Two foreign cars from Michigan and Ohio collided after parking on a northbound slab due to heavy rain and lack of authority assistance. both cars were damaged but occupants were unharmed.
