New Girls Dorm For C. B. College in Chillicothe

Chillicothe Business College plans a $50,000 dormitory funded half by the Chamber of Commerce and half by the school owners. The three to four story brick and concrete fireproof building will house eighty four girls and be the eighth structure on campus, with completion aimed for September 1.

Ross Walker Married In Chicago Last Week

Ross Walker son of the late T B Walker was married last week in Chicago to Elizabeth McKnight of Clinton. The couple will reside in Clinton with a home prepared. Walker served in the U S Navy and has long ties to Patoka where friends extend congratulations.

Patoka Telephone Exchange Gets Fresh Look During Oil Boom

The Patoka Telephone Exchange office has been greatly improved in appearance to reflect Patoka's progress amid the oil boom. Interior decoration is new and a private telephone booth is installed to handle the increasing long distance calls from this office.

A Patoka gathering at the First State Bank formed a local business association. Officers named were President T. E. Irvin Vice President J. W. Alexander and Secretary L. E. Green. The group planned by laws and membership plus discuss future oil boom impacts and town improvement.

Entertain Friends Monday Evening at Altom Home

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brown and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Gren with their children enjoyed a six o'clock dinner Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Altom. After dinner the group played monopoly and participated in other entertainment.

Buildings Undergoing Improvements in Local Area

The Gray Brothers barber shop moved to the C. N. Cruse building and new accessory arrangements created a nicer shop. Taylor Nall redecorated the Patoka Oil Exchange building for J. W. Alexander and associates this week. Roy Sears and son Alden are replastering the building set to be occupied by the Califo Market.

Mr. Martin of Flora opened a talking picture show at the Legion Hall in Patoka. Shows run Tuesday evenings at 7 30 with last week's attendance strong and the western feature advertised in the current Register. Tickets are 10 cents.

Guy and Earl Montgomery of Pomona arrived Saturday to be at the bedside of their mother, Mrs. A. L. Irvin who is dangerously ill. Clark Blankinshin of Mecurter was a weekend visitor at the home of his cousin, Dale Altom and family.

Patoka's First Oil Corporation Fully Organized

The first local petroleum exploration and production company is organized with charter papers from Springfield. Board members include C A Adams Patoka Vernon DuComb Boulder G N Hawley Sandoval and others. George N Kahlert is secretary treasurer with $35 000 incorporation and $16 000 cash on hand. Hawley of Sandoval will supervise drilling to start southwest of Patoka about 4 miles once conditions permit.

Rotary Rig Heads for Patoka Field Expansion

Dee and Higgins of Dee & Higgins report their rotary rig will reach the Patoka Field soon. Operations start after arrival. a large rig at Ina, Illinois supports deep-well testing. Adams Louisana Company drills second Patoka well

The Adams Louisana Company extended its program in the Patoka field with well No. 2 located about 450 feet north of the first producer. A rotary rig was moved to the new site and preliminary drilling steps completed. Completion is expected in about fifteen days after operations began.

Rosbra Club Meets at Potts Home in February Session

The Ros tra club held its February meeting at Mrs. H. N. Potts residence with seven members present and Grace Wernsman as guest. Presiding chairman Mrs. Belle Beckemeyer led a program on England, covering geography, church, architecture, drama, literature, government, and education. The March meeting is planned for Mrs. Potts with Mrs. Frank Miller named chair for the coming month.
