Baptist Church Elects J L Hill Pastor and Names Officers

The Baptist Church unanimously elects J L Hill as pastor for the coming year. The next Sunday school and church officers are named, including Artie Rogier as Sunday School Superintendent, Harry Nat tier as Assistant Superintendent, Talmadge Outhouse as Secretary, Mrs. Orville Genre as Assistant Secretary, and Mrs. C G Mojonnier as Chorister with Mr J H Davis as Assistant Chorister. Additional roles include Beginners Teacher Mrs W J Parks, Junior Girls Mrs C G Mojonnier, Junior Boys Miss Peat Britt, and various class leaders and committee members. Other notes set August 25 for church cleaning and W M S meeting led by Mrs Jennie Carter at Mrs Julia Rogier’s home.

Miss Priscilla N. Cabral of New London Connecticut, a nurse at Home Memorial hospital, is engaged to Erna M. Foltz of Annapolis Maryland. Griffin Family Reunion Travels Through Wisconsin and Illinois

The Conrey Griffines and Archie Thalman attended the Peacock reunion at Nelson Park Decatur on Sunday August 6. They visited Gibson City and Mrs. Moody and Mrs. Swearingin overnight, then went to the Wisconsin Dells for several days. En route home they stopped in Oshkosh and Lake Geneva, and visited a Griffin brother in Weldon Illinois while attending the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. Cecil Griffin, hospitalized in Ottawa Illinois for arthritis, is reported much better.
