Plan To Strengthen Regional Development
The Manitoba government will fund seven regional development corporations with a core financial base and broaden their access to provincial departments. Industry and Commerce Minister Len Evans announced this at the Interlake Economic Development Seminar in Selkirk on April 28, outlining plans to boost social and economic growth, focusing on poorer regions like Interlake which has the province’s lowest income level. The program involves over 85 million dollars in federal and provincial funds under FRED ARDA programs.

History of soil fertility and fertilizer use through ages
This passage traces early soil fertility practices from ancient fertilizers to modern nitrogen and phosphorous needs. It notes nitrogen sources include legumes and lightning fixed forms, and emphasizes placing phosphorous near seeds on summer fallow crops. It cites amounts for stubble and cereal crops and the role of soil testing in guiding applications.
Fertilizer advice stresses balanced needs for crop yield
The guidance notes no excess nitrogen application when not needed and highlights nitrogen, phosphorus, and moisture as the limiting factors. A good crop requires all three in proper balance, regardless of price.
