SUGGESTS CHAIRMAN RESIGNS Melnychuk Gets Year For Theft
Alfred Melnychuk 19 of The Pas was sentenced to one year in The Pas Correctional Institute after pleading guilty to involvement in a break in at Jay-Mar Enterprises. Police traced the break from the store on Fischer Avenue to the Gateway Hotel, and later to Railway Avenue lumber yard before Melnychuk was arrested. Authorities continue to search for a security man linked to the incident as an amplifier and other items were recovered.

National Film Board Returns To The Pas

Town council finance chairman Councillor Doug McBride announced a $75,000 forestry complex tax approval by Manitoba Development Corporation. Local People Pledge Money For New Pool In The Pas
Councillor Doug McBride reported at a Council meeting that a by law authorizes the secretary treasurer to sign an agreement with Graham Construction Ltd for a new indoor pool at M B C 1. First stage cost is 158000 dollars with funds pledged or on hand. total pool cost 215000 dollars, with about 35000 dollars short excluding architect fees. In the past ten days thirty five residents pledged 1000 dollars each, with pledges continuing. Architects warned phase 2 must sign by June 30 to keep sub trade prices.
