Hawks poised for Northern berth in provincial finals
The Thompson Hawks defend their M. A. H. A. Intermediate AA title bid against the Huskies in a best of five series opening this weekend in Thompson. Ex-Huskie Rex Rideout and ex-Jet Willie Mac Leod lead a strong Hawks lineup with additions from Flin Flon and Bomber juniors. The Huskies, led by Claude Kozik, Doug White and Red Armstrong plus Gordie Redhal, aim to deny the Hawks and push to The Pas for Games 3 and 4 February 27 and 28. A bus trip for fans offers a $7 return fare. Meanwhile Selkirk and Warroad battle for the Southern berth in the Manitoba Senior League. A Skate a Thon caps the weekend in the Arena.
