Annual Indigenous Festival Features Canoe Race and Contests
Events run Thursday to Saturday at the Sports Ground with a 120 mile canoe race in three stages from 9 a.m. Thursday and prizes totaling about 3300 dollars. A treasure scavenger event offers a 25 dollar certificate hidden in a container on the Reserve. Concessions, games, dances, and entertainment cap each day with diverse competitions and award ceremonies. Edmonton entrants expected for the canoe race and numerous regional participants join traditional activities like spear throwing trap setting canoe packing and moccasin sewing.
