Sister Luc Morin administrator of St Pauls Residence for five years has retired and moved to St Hyacinthe Quebec. The Pas community honored her with a luncheon on July 25 and presented cards with messages and small gifts.
Langenburg Saskatchewan native Welke has accepted a call to serve as pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church at The Pas after eight years of Lutheran seminary training in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He earned a Master of Divinity degree and is the son of Mr and Mrs W H Welke.
At the May 26 commencement in St. Louis Missouri the graduate, 26, is married to Linda Simons of Marthasville. He studied at Concordia College Edmonton and completed a BA at Concordia Senior College Fort Wayne. He entered Concordia Seminary in 1968 and did chaplain internships in Los Angeles and at churches in Petawawa and Locksley.
Following a vacation in Europe Mr. Welke plans to assume his position at Redeemer in August. Arrangements for ordination and installation will be announced. Concordia Seminary, with an enrollment of over 750, is one of the largest Lutheran seminaries in the world and has graduated over 8,000 clergy.
