Tenders for Scott Bateman Junior High School in Winnipeg opened August 1 with Graham Construction of Saskatoon submitting the low bid at 1.30 million dollars. Other bids ranged above, including Tauvenies Construction and Wallace and Akins. W W Construction, who pulled workers off Mary Duncan School, bid 1.501 million for Scott Bateman and was involved in a re tender at Mary Duncan. Seventh Annual Pas Rodeo Draws Record Crowd in The Pas
The Seventh Annual Pas Rodeo at The Exhibition grounds drew about 5700 fans over two days despite cold rain. Salmond of Weekes Saskatchewan dominated events with prize ribbons and rodeo pickups. Ron McGinnis of The Pas won Bronc with 98 points, Jim Lefler claimed Senior steer riding at 90, and Dean Lagimodiere of The Pas won Junior steer riding.

Best Ever Rodeo Parade Tops With T O P S Float
The T O P S float entered by weight watchers was judged best overall in the Best Ever Rodeo Parade organized mainly by The Pas Kinsmen Club with the Exhibition Association. About 80 entries paraded over a mile as clowns and Kinsmen members entertained children and spectators despite rain and overcast skies.

60th Birthday Youth Fun Day at Centennial Park
Centennial Park hosts a Youth Fun Day sponsored by the Kelsey Recreation Commission Summer Playground Staff. Activities start at 10 AM and run to 3 PM with running, jumping, wheelbarrow, and 3 leg races, bicycle events, candy scrambles, egg catching, bubble gum blowing, tether ball, and a trampoline. All entrants receive a free balloon for the town’s 80th anniversary. Evening films at Mary Duncan School are free and open to all.
