Provo Man Acquitted Of Manslaughter In Highway Crash
An eight man jury found Lawrence Richard Jensen not guilty of manslaughter in the April 21, 1954 highway crash on US Highway 91 near Beaver. Byron Nelson, also of Provo, died from injuries three days after the wreck. The trial, in Fifth Judicial District Court, concluded after about three hours of deliberation with Jensen and Nelson involved in a driving incident while en route to Silica Land claims near Cedar City. District Attorney Patrick H. Fenton and Iron County Attorney Durham Morris prosecuted. defense lawyers were Orville Isom and Dallas H. Young.

Four Month Old Baby Dies From Suffocation in Car
Douglas Bryan Schmidt, born June 7 1954 in Chandler Arizona, died in Parowan Utah when resting in the back seat of his parents automobile. The four month old suffocated as his nose pressed to upholstery and blankets. His United States Air Force father Mr Kirby Turton and mother, with two sets of grandparents, are named. The body was prepared for shipment to Kansas City for burial.

Last Rites for Stanley Benson in Parowan Chapel
Funeral services for Stanley Porester Benson sixty one were held in Parowan Third Ward Chapel with Howard M Adams directing. The longtime resident and World War II veteran died Thursday at Salt Lake Veterans Hospital from heart disease and arthritis. The service featured prayers, organ music by Orna Johnson, and singing of Abide With Me with a large local gathering.
