Church Doings in the Fall Classes Begin

Red Cross Field Directors Help Servicemen with Problems

The Red Cross assists servicemen and families with emergencies from leave extensions to housing and pay delays. Field directors operate at 364 installations and 1,059 sub stations, providing 24hour help and connecting servicemen to local resources.

Band Mothers To Sponsor Children Dance Monday

A children's dance will be held in Parowan High School Gym Monday from 4 to 5 pm. Sponsored by Band Mothers to raise funds, tickets cost 10 cents and music will be provided by the Junior Orchestra. All children of any age are invited to attend.

Seaman Apprentice Clarence L. Stubbs Aboard Coral Sea

Clarence L. Stubbs of Parowan serves as crew member on the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. The ship is undergoing general repairs at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia after a five month Mediterranean tour. The voyage included visits to Paris Cannes France Switzerland Naples Capri Pompeii Rome and Athens with an audience for some crew members with the Pope in Rome.

Social To Honor Elder Albert E Adams Jr

A missionary social honors Elder Albert E. Adams Jr at the West Ward Elders Quorum. The event includes an 8 p.m. program at the Chapel and a dance in the recreation hall. Adams, of Parowan, will report Oct 19 to Salt Lake City before departing for a two year mission to the East Central States with headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

Judge Wil L Hoyt presided over a September term of the Fifth Judicial District Court in Parowan with 40 cases filed including three criminal matters. Clifford Jake pleaded not guilty to rape involving a Lund Beryl highway incident. Howard Thomas Robb Cedar City received a suspended sentence with monthly reporting. Jackie Jacks left Cedar City for Albuquerque after release amid a resisting an officer charge. Several divorces were addressed with interlocutory decrees granted to Roddy Williams Aydelotte and Sylvia Leigh Rosenberg, while Elmer R Matheson v Afton Mortensen Matheson was taken under advisement.

Mrs Orien Raamusen also back from the same lake summer. Ethel Levi visited Parowan last week after Salt Lake business trip. she and granddaughter Lalonfe Bentley left for Oakland California. Gary Jensen son of LaMar Jensen improves after hospital convulsion triggered by flu. he is home. A Hills Orton left for Salt Lake City to enter Holy Cross Hospital for weeks of treatment on his mangled left arm. Pvt Orton Recovers From Burns In Germany

Mr and Mrs Ellis Orton of Parowan received word from their son Pvt Ellis Orton Jr stationed with the U S Army in Germany that he had been released from the Army hospital in Heidelberg after three weeks of treatment for severe burns to both arms suffered in an accident in the mess quarters where he works as a cook He said he was very much improved and able to write his first letter in a month.
