Road improvements to aid Parowan area progress
Several road projects are underway around Parowan including oiling city streets with gravel topping and seal coats, completing Main Canyon road work, and adding oil mulch on Cuss'ems canyon. The Iron County Road dept fixed the First Left Hand Road below Yankee Reservoir with gravel to reduce hazards, while a new State Fish & Game access road near Maple Springs aims to open deer hunting areas. Highway 91 between Parowan and Paragonah is being relaid by the highway department.

Orton will be held Thursday September 12 at 8 30 p m in Parowan First Ward Chapel before his two year mission to the New England States Mission He is the son of Ione and the late William T Orton a Parowan High School graduate active in priesthood work and employed at Safe Way Store in Cedar City He enters the mission home in Salt Lake City on September 18.

Final Rites Held For Mrs Verna Taylor Friday
Funeral services for Mrs Mavourneen Bentley Taylor 60 who died of a stroke were held Friday Sept 6 at the Parowan First Second Ward Chapel. Bishop George Rowley presided with music by local quartet and soloists. Burial was in Parowan City Cemetery. She was born May 2 1897 in Parowan and leaves husband Clayton Taylor two sons Darwin Casper Wyoming and Gene Kern Utah five grandchildren two brothers George and Wilford Bentley and three sisters Fannie Stubbs Zelma Huffaker and Maude Whiting. Burial followed under Southern Utah Mortuary direction.
