Outstanding success at Iron County Fair three day event
The Iron County Fair drew strong crowds September first to third with standout 4 H exhibits in the sewing and culinary divisions. Flowers and fruit displays impressed despite modest entries while Tom Gibson Beary and Howard Dalley Summit led prized potato and fruit varieties. Livestock entries were few but high quality, headlining with Clair Rogers New Castle's fat steer earning top honors.

Last Rites Held For George C Taylor
Funeral services for George Oliver Taylor aged 67 were held in the West Ward Chapel Tuesday afternoon with Jos E Ward of the Bishopric conducting. A mixed quartet including Ramona Mitchell and others sang Come Unto Me as the opening number. Invocation was offered by John W Bentley. Sopalera for the services were Will L Adams and Hugh Lt Adams with closing remarks by Bishop Ward.

Parowan Stake To Host Tri Stake Relief Society Meet
Parowan Stake will host Relief Society leaders from Beaver Cedar and Parowan Stakes on Friday September 16. Mrs Leone C Layton and Mrs Nellie Neal of the General Board will attend along with Parowan Stake President Edna Hatch. Morning sessions for stake board members at 10 and officers at 11 precede departmental meetings. A luncheon will be served, and the afternoon program led by Gedar Stake President W Clair Rowley features talks by Board members with two sessions for presidents and class teachers. Polio Epidemic Emergency Drive Seeks Funds Nationwide
The National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis launches a Polio Epidemic Emergency Drive to fund patient care as thousands of cases swell across the country. Basil O’Connor says $14.5 million is needed this year, with expectations of up to $25 million in 1949 to cover medical and hospital costs families cannot meet. Contributions may be mailed to POLIO care of your local Post Office.

Paragonah Teen Injured in Nevada Car Wreck
Miss Helen McBride daughter of Mr and Mrs Rey McBride was seriously hurt when a car carrying Pangullohs youths skidded off a dirt road about five miles north of Pioche Nevada. She suffered a concussion and several injuries and remained unconscious until late Monday. Calvin Davies sustained the most serious injuries and will be hospitalized for some time.
