Iron County Centennial Fair Opens In Parowan Next Week
Iron County Centennial Fair kicks off Monday in Parowan with the Chamber of Commerce hosting a Ladies Night on September 13. The Vermillion Castle representatives will hold the annual officer election and entertain members and guests. An entertainment committee of five led by S J Whitney was named to plan the event with a luncheon served early.

Bank of Iron County Opens With $45000 First Day Deposits
The Bank of Iron County opens in Parowan with more than 45000 in first day deposits after September 2. Receipts were given by cashiers Arthur Joseph and Eva Adams with aid from Walker Bank officer Clair M Mortensen and First State Bank of Salina assistant cashier E V Johnson. Commissioner J Melvin Knapp called the opening highly satisfactory and noted the bank’s capital stock of 30000, surplus 10000, and 5000 undivided profits. He said Parowan’s bank is the only wholly independent Utah state bank chartered since the war. Two Richfield Bank branches in Fillmore and Delta had become independent in June 1946.

The Master Singers will give weekly concerts at 8:00 p.m every Tuesday in the Cedar City 1st Ward Church sponsored by Union Pacific R A and Utah Parks Company. The series targets tourists and locals and will continue while Parks Company maintains bus service to the parks.

Miss Judy Richards visited her grandmother in Parowan along with relatives and friends. Former residents Mr. and Mrs. Vivian B. Decker and family joined Anna Ollerson at Anna and Ova Adams’ home during Labor Day. Mrs. C. L. Robinson’s broken leg from a car accident shows slow recovery as a cast nears removal.
