Pump Well Provides Water for 40 Acres Farowan Valley
The John T. Mitchell Pump Well sits about four and a half miles north and west of town, supplying 450 gallons per hour to irrigate 40 acres of fertile land. Mitchell uses a six horsepower gas engine linked to a centrifugal pump, drawing water from 200 feet underground to bring a jet 20 feet above ground, matching one of the first three wells installed in the Farowan valley, alongside the Baltermond and Day wells.
