Dorthea Jensen Hayles, a hand cart veteran and Utah pioneer, was laid to rest after a West Ward chapel service. The ceremony included solos by Mary Orton Brand and Annie N. Gurr, readings by Barbara M. Adams, and remarks by Bishop H. L. Adams and Walter C. Mitchell at the cemetery dedication.
The Paro wan Livestock Association will meet Saturday night October 24. Officers report and election of three directors plus a secretary treasurer for two years will occur. While the initial condition was critical, latest reports say she is getting along very well. her offices are being cared for by her sister Eva and Myra Dalton.
Marshal W Vesco Call spoke to the high school student body Monday on law enforcement. He warned girls against accepting invitations from men or boys, urged chaperoned dances, and cited tragic outcomes. The speaker is related to Principal Salch and later traveled to Cedar City and St George for official business.
Utah Taxpayers Association schedules a full day in Salt Lake City to debate cutting government expenditures. Mr. Bill Gove came down from Salt Lake City during the week 16 hunt deer with Darowan friends, Afra. Frank Stevens will return with Jim tomorrow to visit with her sister Mrs. Gove for a time. Measrs. Dick Tulilg and Leo Kneil students from Newenelte who are attending school here, went home on Wednesday evening to remain while school is adjourned to permit teachers to attend the conception in Salt Lake City.
