Ceramics Class Planned in Parowan Adult Education

Parowan will offer a ceramics class as part of the adult education program announced by Principal Amos C. Hatch. A Monday evening meeting at 8 will discuss details. Mrs Fae Dix and Mrs Watson will attend. The class is limited to 18 students, meeting three hours weekly for 12 weeks, with state funds and an instructor provided. A study of local clays for modeling and handling is under supervision at the high school.

Parent-Teacher Conferencing Plan to Be Discussed

Miss Mary McMillan Iron County School Primary Supervisor will outline a new Parent-Teacher Conferencing plan at the first regular Parowan PTA meeting Thursday night October 27 in the school auditorium at 8 p.m. A question box will invite subjects for future meetings and the program will end with a social honoring members of the PTA membership drive.

Mayor E. Ray Lyman To Head Party Ticket

Po'owan City Republicans nominated Mayor E. Ray Lyman for another term by acclamation to head the Municipal government in November elections. Incumbent councilmen Edgar Benson and Claude Burton also joined the ticket with newcomers Edger J. King and How ard M. Adams seeking four year and two year council seats respectively. Year-Round Dance Studio Opens Here

Dick and Jean Lowe, veteran dance educators from Hollywood and San Francisco, establish a permanent year round studio in St. George. They will offer classes in St. George, Hurricane, and Cedar City, starting Saturday in Parowan at the West Ward Church recreation hall. Members of Dancing Masters of America, they require passing a strict examination in ability and character. Costumes will be provided for all recitals and productions staged at least twice yearly, plus programs for lodges, churches, and schools.

Retiring West Ward Relief Society Officers Feted

West Ward Relief Society president Mrs. Florence D. Benson announces a social for retiring officers led by Mrs. Deila D. Marsden. Following the literary lesson, a short program and light refreshments will be offered for all ward members. The Relief Society Conference occurs with the West Ward Sacrament meeting on Sunday afternoon Oct. 30.

Rams Fall to St. George in Season Finale 27 7

The Rams were defeated 27 to 7 by St. George in the final game of the season. Clair Morris and Mar Lyman were sidelined, Ralph Halterman used only for kickoffs, yet the team fought hard against a bigger opponent.

Adult Gym Class Set For Wednesday Evening

Coach Ray Walters announces a winter adult gym class for male adults each Wednesday from 8 to 10 pm at the High School Gym. The newly painted facility will be marked for volleyball badminton table tennis and basketball with weekly supervision and a gym shoe requirement.

Rosemary Robinson and Lau ana Mickelson reported on Girl's State in Logan at the Parowan Literary Club meeting. Zona P. Topham presided at the home of Mrs. Huldath M. Hulet with four teen members and four guest parents present. The group sang America the Beautiful and a roll call followed before refreshments with a Halloween motif.

Funeral Services for Richard J. Liord Saturday

Funeral services for Richard J. Liord, 63, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the West Ward Chapel. A Parowan resident for 22 years, he died Thursday morning at home of a heart attack after tending animals. Born August 10, 1876 in Pine Valley, he lived as a rancher in multiple towns before settling in Parowan. He married Cora Dodds in 1903, on their 46th wedding anniversary. Survived by widow, five children Rex Lloyd Jim Lloyd Mary Giger Rita Rowley, Cora O’Bannon, two sisters, and thirteen grandchildren. Friends may call at the Parowan home Saturday from 10 a.m. until services.

Paragonah Woman Eliza Robb Dies At Home

Mrs. Eliza Mather Nina Robb 67 died at her Paragonah home on Wednesday afternoon from a heart attack. Funeral services are tentatively planned for Saturday, with relatives from out of town awaiting word. A fuller obituary will appear in next week’s issue.

Two Iron County 4 H Girls Win Ribbons At Portland Show

Iron County 4 H club members Miss Ailene Gibson of Tinoch and Miss Betty Jean Lund of Paragonah sent canned products from the Utah State Fair to the Pacific International Livestock Show in Portland Oregon. Ailene's canned chicken won a blue ribbon and Betty Jean's green beans earned a green ribbon.

Temple nuptials unite Dan Moore and Billie Majean Galilei

In Parowan area news, Miss Billie Majean Galilei of Cedar City and Howard Dan Moore of Salt Lake City wed Friday October 14 at St Gore Temple. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs Trady M Euli Win of Beaver, is a granddaughter of Mrs Dom Rollins of Parowan. A reception followed in the First Ward Beaver with many relatives and friends from Parowan. Moore recently returned from the New England States.
