City Seeks County Fire Protection Aid in Parowan Meeting
Iron County residents pressed the Board of County Commissioners for fire-fighting equipment for Parowan and nearby areas. The group led by Mayor E Ray Lyman and Chamber of Commerce members sought county funds, possibly via a property levy next year, with cities to handle local fire control beyond city limits. The commission agreed to cooperate and to explore a fire zone plan with a fire underwriter. Escalante Valley residents also urged help funding the Shoal Creek Flood Control project, receiving $200 to add to $672 already allotted. Audit report discussion was postponed to November.
